Manifesto Proposal

I want to explore the theory of gender and how the non conforming in particular are viewed in the media. From LGBT people to drag and performance artists I want to experiment with different ways in which this can be explored throughout photography and the media. Can I change how someone is viewed simply by changing their look ever so slightly or photographing them in a different setting or with different colour pallets? I have been inspired by works from photographers like Iris Ray and artists such as Grayson Perry.

I will be looking into theorists like Judith Butler, Gary Wood and Carolyn Mair. Amongst many others.
