THIS IS NOT CONSENT

One in five women in England and Wales have experienced some type of sexual assault since the age of 16. More than 510,000 women – an estimated 3.1% of all women aged 16 to 59 – experienced some type of sexual assault in the past year. A recent news story tells of how a 17 year old girl from Ireland had her thong used in evidence as a sign of consent in a rape trial. A woman's choice of clothing is her own, we do not choose our underwear with the intent of being raped. Our underwear is not on display, this is not an invitation. As a group of young women we wanted to make it clear to everyone that no matter what underwear, clothing, makeup or anything else that we wear for that matter is our choice and we do not choose to be raped, sexually assaulted or verbally assaulted.
