Sally Mann (born in Lexington, Virginia, 1951) is one of America’s most renowned photographers. She has received numerous awards, including NEA, NEH, and Guggenheim Foundation grants, and her work is held by major institutions
internationally.
Sally’s photographic study of her husband Larry Mann was taken over a six year period. Resulting in a series of candid nude studies of a mature male body that neither objectifies nor celebrates the focus of its gaze. Instead it would suggest a profoundly trusting relationship between woman and man and a significant capturing of their relationship. The pictures themselves very intimate, alluding. The images feel beautifully unposed.
