Sara Shakeel is a visual artist and collage maker from Pakistan. I first became aware of her work on instagram where I had seen how she had manipulated images of stretch marks by making them glittery, it really stood out to me as it was body positive and art positive. I like how she takes images that are not of her own but edits and makes them her own.
What feeds into your works? God, memories and whatever I lay my eyes on. My art is either a story I want to live for myself, something I have witnessed or a life I WANT to live, emotions play a major part in my work. In this image she covers the mans face with a rainbow distortment. I like alot of her edited images and how they link with what I am doing very subtly. In a way she is masking his face to create a different type of message than the original image had intended and this links with what I am doing by editing a mask over a previous piece of artwork.
